Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class Propulsion team has deep domain expertise in rotating electric machines for transportation application. Here you’ll interact with various internal and external customers to transform transportation industry. Our global Propulsion team consist of electrical and mechanical engineers that work together address real word challenges and come up with innovative solutions.

How will you make a difference?

As the Advance Lead Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for design, testing, application studies, field support, manufacturing support, and innovation on a variety of machine topologies. You will support various business critical initiatives that include hybrid and battery electric vehicles. In this role you will train under experienced engineers on application specifics, work within defined parameters to make decisions and apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity while resolving issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 5 year of experience with hardware design (electric motors, transformers, etc.)

  • Basic understanding of rotating machines

  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), bolted joint, stress analysis

What will your typical day look like?

You will be responsible for projects related to Motors and/or Alternator designs and work with cross functional teams to meet assigned objectives.

  • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements

  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers

  • Participate and work with global teams on projects assigned to address specific organizational initiatives

  • Validate new components and subassemblies, author & release of drawings and specifications

  • Generate engineering documents (DFMEA, Design Review materials, Purchase Specs, meeting notes, technical visuals and presentations, etc.)

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

What about the physical demands of the job?

Able to be in manufacturing, lab and on locomotive environment to support product developments.
