This role of Software Engineering Manager is a combination of software engineering leadership and people management skills playing an essential part in the software application development team for Network Optimization group with servant leadership approach to create highly reliable and available software systems for the largest train companies in the world.
We are looking for a people manager with prior hands-on end-to-end complex software application development experience in cloud architecture using Agile framework.
Essential Responsibilities –
Lead a world class software development team.
Deliver the application and services meeting overall budget, operational and quality standards.
Demonstrate very strong Engineering Leadership and People Management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of product development and successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation and resolution.
Provide guidance & coaching to the software engineers in the team while working cross-functionally with global engineering teams, systems engineering, program managers, technology leaders and downstream operations and support teams to ensure on-time execution with on-target quality and cost of programs.
Influence decision making through active partnerships.
Act as the change agent for the team, continuously improving both tools and processes working with the engineering leadership team.
Ownership of team delivery, productivity, mentorship, guidance and conflict management, day to day team operations, team success, executive communication, employing cost savings strategies, providing technical guidance, and working with multiple teams across technologies.
Education, Job Qualification and Skill Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, Engineering, or a closely related field of study.
A minimum of 15 years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with 10 years of experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Software Development leadership / management role.
10+ years of overall professional experience in software development in technologies Java/J2EE, microservices, Angular, React, javascript, typescript, html5, Websocket, PolymerJS with CI/CD.
Experience in cloud platform migration or implementation projects and experience in cloud technologies like docker, containerization architecture.
Experience in AGILE Software development and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Experience in working with global development teams.
Experience in working with senior management, providing periodic project reports, defining metrics, constantly measuring success KPIs and improving.
Experience triaging problems with sense of urgency.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability
Must be a good team player, self-driven, quick learner, results-oriented, and a clear focus on high quality and strong interpersonal skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualification:
Master’s degree.
Experience in Rail Domain.
